Making Your Private Practice Anti-Racist

In a time of global upheaval during COVID-19 and the brutal murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and many others at the hands of police, it can be hard to know the right thing to say.

Words hardly seem sufficient, when action is what is needed.

As a Private Practice Success Coach, Entrepreneur, and leader of a thriving community of counsellors and therapists across Canada, I feel called to offer something useful and meaningful.

Simultaneously, I am acutely aware of my own privilege and the necessity to listen, learn and reflect. It is my wish to use the power that my position and voice carry to elevate those whose voices need to be heard and whose expertise far exceeds my own.

As therapists, I think it’s our responsibility to educate ourselves on our own biases and blind spots, as well as how we can redress the damages done by the racism and oppression embedded in our society. I have just scratched the surface of my own journey and I invite you to join me. Below is a collection of resources that may serve as a starting point for you. Please bear in mind that these resources may not be perfect or complete, feel free to choose the ones that resonate with you most.
