Business Support for Canadian Therapists—Without the Hustle

Since 2016, we’ve helped Canadian clinicians build private practices that feel steady, sustainable, and values-aligned—without pressure, shame, or burnout.

Calm, Practical Business Guidance for Canadian Therapists

Meet Liane Wood, RP

CEO of BYPP + Registered Psychotherapist based in Belleville, Ontario

Hi, I’m Liane, a registered psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and the CEO of Build Your Private Practice.

But my story didn’t begin in the therapy room.

Before I became a therapist, I spent over a decade as a multi-business entrepreneur. I built and scaled multiple insurance brokerages from the ground up, growing one to over 7 figures before making the bold decision to sell it and return to school to become a psychotherapist.

Why? Because despite the financial success, I was craving work that felt more meaningful and aligned with my values. I had always felt called to support others on a deeper level and becoming a therapist gave me the opportunity to do just that.

But here’s the truth: even with all my business experience, building a private practice was still a steep learning curve. I quickly realized that what worked in the insurance world didn’t directly translate to therapy. The clinical skills were there, but navigating pricing, systems, marketing, and ethical business strategy as a therapist was something else entirely.

That gap between therapeutic training and business education is exactly why BYPP exists.

Today, I run a thriving group practice in Belleville, Ontario, where I also provide clinical supervision to fellow therapists. And as CEO of BYPP, I’m on a mission to make sure Canadian therapists no longer have to figure out private practice on their own.

Our programs are built from lived experience. We don’t teach theory, we teach what we’ve actually done. And our team understands the challenges therapists face because we’ve been there ourselves: overwhelmed by admin, unsure about pricing, and craving guidance that felt ethical, aligned, and actually doable.

What I Believe:

Therapists are deeply skilled at helping others, but the business side of private practice can feel overwhelming, especially when your education didn’t prepare you for it. My role, and the role of the BYPP team, is to bring clarity, structure, and support so you can grow your practice without burning out.

At BYPP, we don’t do hype.
We do strategy, systems, and community.
We help Canadian therapists feel confident as business owners.

Leilani Angel

Hi, I am Leilani! I love bringing communities together whether in my personal or professional life. I have been in online business operations for the last six years and don’t see myself anywhere else. There is just a sense of accomplishment when I am able to close loops, mark projects complete, and create thriving systems. I live right across the lake in Cleveland, Ohio with my family.

When I am not strategizing I love cooking, photographing, and sharing delicious recipes using leftovers. One day I hope to write a cookbook all about using what you have and creating a sustainable kitchen.

Shelby Lang-Perry

Hi, I’m Shelby! Efficiency, authenticity, and transparency are at the core of everything I do. I am a multi-passionate entrepreneur and warmhearted music lover. I recently left the big city and moved to a farm with my partner and saint berdoodle puppy. You can find me binge-reading Harry Potter or drinking a good cup of coffee when I am not working.

Growing up, I always wanted to be a musician. After playing with the symphony for a couple of years, my passion for science and systems won. Since graduating with my bachelor of science in food science and human nutrition, I have worked as a freelancer in the digital space. My path might have looked different if I had known as a kid that I could become a professional tech organizer.

Now, I specialize in creating content, systems, automation and overall organizing the behind-the-scenes elements of businesses to run like a well-oiled machine. Combined with my passion for helping others through online training, customer service and coaching, I have been able to blend my creative and analytical sides.

My approach seamlessly weaves together my professional training with personal insights, fostering a holistic coaching experience. Having navigated my own path, I intimately understand the power of consistent dedication and incremental progress towards our aspirations—much like the gentle erosion of a river shaping stone. As someone who admires the hard work, dedication and determination that goes into running and maintaining a successful business, I recognize the intricacies and have come to know what it takes to create a vision and turn it into a living, vibrant business model. I can tolerate stuckness and am not afraid to shine the light of curiosity. I look forward to accompanying you with passion to overcome challenges holding you back from reaching your goals, achieving fulfillment, purpose and meaning in building successful private practices.

Discover the impact of our programs through the words of those who experienced it.
“Opening a private practice went from anxiety-provoking and daunting … to feeling feasible and something that I was excited about! BYPP breaks down everything you need in a clear, concise manner. They provide templates, timelines, and checklists to ensure nothing is missed. I feel so much more confident now than I did 8 weeks ago. Thank you, BYPP!”

Steph Paolucci Wellness

Registered Psychotherapist, Toronto, ON
“I completed my degree and was eager to start working. I joined this program and it not only gave me the tools to start my journey, but helped me to discover my strengths and areas of opportunity. I really enjoyed my counselling program, but there was no direction on how to start a private practice, make connections, business plans or marketing. I was feeling totally lost, but now I feel more confident, happy and able to make strategic decisions.”

Lucia

Therapist

“I rebranded, narrowed my niche, raised my rates, and started getting more aligned clients right away. Scale Your Practice helped me trust myself as a business owner, not just a therapist.”

John Sendim

Uplift for Men
“Before Scale Your Practice, I was working weekends, constantly behind on admin, and treating my full-time practice like a side hustle. Now I work regular hours, feel in control of my business, and have systems in place that support both me and my clients.”

Michael Waxman

Toronto-based Social Worker

With the right plan and the right support, building a private practice can feel clear, steady, and possible.
